Worker’s Comp (WC) Policy Contains 2 Parts
- Part A is the workers’ comp portion that compensates employees who are injured or sickened as a result of their employment. There are no policy limits to an employer’s Part A coverage.
- Part B provides employers’ liability coverage. This section protects the employer in the event the employee feels the employer was negligent and elects to sue the employer rather than accept WC benefits.
- The Basic Statutory Limits in most states are $100,000 per occurrence for bodily injury, a $500,000 overall policy limit for bodily injury by disease, and $100,000 per employee for bodily injury by disease.
Hot Tip: WC liability limits can be increased in most states from $100k to $1m for under $100 annual premium (per $1m gross revenue). Today it is critical for medical practices to evaluate the premium cost for higher liability limits. Contact your independent agent to learn more about your WC coverage options.
